EPOD Featured in Alberta Oil and Gas Quarterly
Westgen’s methane emissions elimination technology was featured in the Alberta Oil and Gas Quarterly Publication this month with early adopter Painted Pony Energy.
Painted Pony Energy commissioned their first EPOD on a three well pad in November of 2019. The unit has operating since that time providing electricity to power site RTU, communications, measurement, electric injection pumps, and electric heat tracing. The EPOD is also providing compressed air to the pneumatic system on the site.
“We actually believe we’re going to save money overall and have more reliable sites as a result”
-Tim Michaelis, Painted Pony
The EPOD was put to the test through January as the temperatures in Pink Mountain dipped below -45 degrees Celsius. With the cold ambient temperatures, the fuel gas experienced liquid slugs and hydrates. The EPOD was able to keep the site up and running throughout the two week cold snap. According to Painted Pony’s Tim Michaelis “the unit has performed exactly in line with expectations”.
The EPOD is designed to eliminate methane venting from pneumatics and comply with new BC regulations that will be in place on January 1, 2021. The EPOD value proposition goes beyond this however, according to Painted Pony “We actually believe we’re going to save money overall and have more reliable sites as a result”
